The Figueiredo House – Lotoulim

Set in the beautiful homestay of Loutulim, in south Goa’s Salcete taluka, planted amidst the serenity of paddy fields and coconut palms, The Figueiredo House is not just redolent of Goa Portuguesa…it lives and breathes it. First occupied in 1590, the house predates the Taj Mahal by decades, making it a one-of-a-kind heritage treasure. The original architects of this regal house, and later the Jesuit priests who designed the noem ghor, assisted by the keen creative eye of the present owner, have crafted this intricate wonder, where every nook exudes comfort, luxury, and bliss. The house’s extravagant interiors and grand 2 staircase façade stand in studied stillness, towering over the natural beauty that stretches as far as the eye can see. Antique teakwood furniture crafted by artisans and carvers from Goa and abroad, as India was in those times, commissioned porcelain engraved with the family crest and initials, Italian floor tiles over 200 years old … there are just some of the visible markers of the splendour in which the house and its occupants lived.

• Bedroom 1: Named for 2 generations of women in the family, Amália is a spacious room overlooking the front courtyard and paddy fields beyond. It is furnished with an antique canopied double bed, wardrobe, AC, Wi-Fi access, self tea/coffee service, and a mini-fridge. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries.
• Bedroom 2: It is named after the first lady judge in British India, a visionary & the first woman to own this sprawling mansion, defying the custom of her time. It is furnished with twin beds, a wardrobe, AC, Wi-Fi access, self tea/coffee service, and a mini-fridge. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries.
• Bedroom 3: Elsa is a gentle room, like the person it was named after. Furnished with twin beds, wardrobe, AC, Wi-Fi access, self tea/coffee service, and a mini-fridge. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries

• It is named after the sisters belonging to the 10th generation of the Figueiredo family, and the last residents of the Old House. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries.

Living Area:

• A tribute to the visionary who dreamed of preserving this grand house, Vincente João is a popular room choice amongst guests.It is furnished with an antique king-sized bed, wardrobe, AC, Wi-Fi access, self tea/coffee service, and a mini-fridge.The soothing grey-and-white ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries.

Dining Area:

• Named after the 12th generation member of the Figueiredo family, it is situated in what used to be the domain of the many daughters-in-law. Opening towards a central courtyard, it is furnished with an antique king bed wardrobe, AC, Wi-Fi access, self tea/coffee service, and a mini-fridge. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a geyser, towels, a hair dryer, and sundry toiletries.

• Breakfast is complimentary. Meals can be prepared in-house 12 hours prior to request at an additional charge. For large groups, please inform us of your meal preference in advance and allow us a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to your check-in date.
