Chalet Hakuchōzan
Description
Inspired by the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, Hakuchozan was inspired by the idea of bringing the luxurious lifestyle of the European monarchies of old to thrill families in the modern day. Designed over four floors, this seven-bedroom villa, twice voted Japan’s Best Ski Chalet, offers plenty of communal areas for the whole family to relax, play and socialise, as well as quiet nooks for relaxing with a mountain view. Whether you’re playing in the games room or enjoying a soak in the outdoor hot tub overlooking Mount Yotei, Hakuchozan spares no expense in making sure that your experience is relaxing, stress-free and, in a word, magical.

Bedrooms: Spacious and warm, with natural wood tones and soft, cosy fabric textures, the seven ensuite bedrooms at Hakuchozan are all superbly designed to create a feeling of the utmost comfort and security. Intending the house for use as an extended family getaway, you’ll find bedrooms on each floor, meaning that different parts of the family can occupy adjoining bedrooms, and treat their own rooms as private nooks in which to relax. On the first floor you’ll find two double rooms, a twin room and a bunk bed room with space to sleep four kids. One floor up, you’ll find two more double rooms and on the top floor you’ll find the largest and most private double room of them all.
Outdoors: Whether you’re visiting in the winter to enjoy the pearl-white snow and excellent ski facilities or during the summer to experience the blue skies and verdant mountainsides, the panoramic vistas visible from Hakuchozan have to be seen to be believed. Step outside onto the main terrace, located off the second floor, and you’ll find yourself on a cosy, alpine balcony, complete with a firepit and hot tub, overlooking the dramatic Japanese Alps. For a quieter outside experience, head to the top floor to enjoy a cup of steaming sencha tea in complete privacy, while enjoying the crisp snow beneath your feet and cool mountain air.
Indoors: Hokuchozan was built to be a family home in which members of multiple generations could make memories together all under one roof. As you climb its four floors, you’ll find open communicable spaces and laid back, private nooks where families can enjoy both time together and time apart. The main living area is the large, open-plan living room on the second floor, which features a widescreen TV, massage chair, and plush sofas on which guests can relax together after a day tearing up the slopes. The children might also head to the games room on the top floor to play on the X-box or the adults to the den on the ground floor to enjoy a quiet drink. As sunset rolls around, the fully-equipped kitchen has enough space for everyone to chip in together to create the perfect evening feast, to get enjoyed en famille around the dining table.
Staff Quarters: If you’ve not already read enough reasons for Hakuchozan to be named Japan’s Best Ski Chalet two years in a row, then maybe the available services will help you understand. When you stay at Hakuchozan, you’ll be looked after by a dedicated team who provide both services in your chalet and out in the world. With a range of services to choose from from housekeeping and a private chef, to ski lessons, wine tasting and reindeer rides, no request is too big or too small for the Hakulife team.
Concierge: The Concierge team takes care of guest experiences! We are your personal assistants on the ground and help you with anything and everything from the moment you book with us, at no extra charge.
